Regina Folk Festival
A celebration of Saskatchewan and Canadian artists happened over the weekend at Regina’s Folk Festival! Located in Victoria Park, the three-day music festival featured free concerts throughout the day at the sunlit stages, children’s programming, beer gardens, food trucks, arts market and at night the headliners performed on the main stage.
This year, some performances included Tegan and Sara, Lights, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Marty Stuart, Coeur De Pirate, Natalie McMaster and Jose Gonzalez.
This event is a favorite among locals, as the whole Regina community comes together to enjoy great music, great food and great weather!
Our Regina Ambassador Enid had only positive things to say about the festival:
“I have always been a big fan of the Regina Folk Festival. Just like any of our major city events, it’s always an awesome time since you see people you haven’t seen in a while. It’s one of those events that draws friendly faces together. RFF is a rad event that has awesome tunes performed by the most talented musicians. Furthermore, it’s a bonus with yummy food (try the Iced London Fog), and the cutest & coolest local shops!”
Market Under The Stars
There’s no better way to spend a Thursday evening in the Queen City than to take part in Market Under The Stars! A night filled with music, dance and food will only leave you eagerly anticipating the next one!
Tickets are available at the City Square Plaza, as a way to taste the treats offered at the local food trucks. Furthermore, the market features a live music stage and a dance area for those wanting to watch or try-out salsa dancing.
Our Regina Ambassador Enid fully embraced everything Market Under The Stars has to offer. For any visitors traveling to Regina this summer…Enid highly recommends attending this event!
“It was a fantastic event, and so many people had attended! Going to these local events remind you how small and friendly our city is – as you see so many familiar faces!
The set up for this event was wonderful – easy to locate everything! The market also included local tunes by the talented Etienne Fletcher. For anyone who missed this event, it’s a must for this summer!”
The Dunlop Art Gallery is a hidden gem here in Regina! Located in the building of the downtown Regina Public Library branch, the gallery primarily focuses on exhibits with a common theme of contemporary culture.
Transmundane is the current exhibit running until September 7. The artwork comments on the extension beyond the physical world. These ideas include: mindfulness meditation, new age spiritual practices and mind-altering drugs.
Regina Ambassador Enid recently checked-out the gallery! See what she has to say:
“As someone who loves art, I think this is a great exhibit for all art-lovers to see! It’s super cool as it has a psychedelic atmosphere. For any viewers, I would recommend them to pick up a copy of the “Exhibition Essay” to have a strong understanding of the art! This exhibit left a lot of thoughts for me – overall a stellar experience!”
Surely eating out every day isn’t wise? But, during Restaurant Week in Regina, we give it a pass! Former Regina Ambassador Katie Bially headed off to Crave Kitchen + Wine Bar to get her fill!
