Why Regina?

Home of the RCMP

The only training centre for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police is located in Regina. The RCMP chose Regina as a temporary site for its headquarters while Regina was the capital of the North West Territories and chose to stay.

Wascana Centre
One of the largest urban parks in North America, Wascana Centre covers 2300 acres, 300 of which are water. The entire park is man-made, in fact every blade of grass, every tree and hill, as well as the lake and its small islands are all man-made. During the winter months of 2004, an $18 million urban revitalization project took place to increase the depth of the lake for the benefit of the people who visit and enjoy Wascana Centre. Revitalization benefits included a promenade deck, new island, pedestrian pathways, pedestrian bridge, waterfall, fountain, and a new aeration system to support fist habitat.

Hockey Hotbed
The Regina Pats Hockey Club is the world’s longest running junior hockey team.

The Saskatchewan Legislature
The “Marble Palace” is the largest of all the Legislative Buildings in Canada.

The Albert Street Bridge
Listed in the “Ripley’s Believe it or Not,” the 370-metre bridge spans 37 meters of water and is considered to be one of the longest bridges over the shortest expanse of water.

Here is Something Attractive
Casino Regina, located in the historic CPR Station, is the province’s number one tourist attraction. The Saskatchewan Science Centre and Kramer Imax Theatre is recognized as the number one family attraction in Saskatchewan, and the RCMP Heritage Centre will be one of the top international tourists attractions. The RCMP Sunset Retreat Ceremony has been named one of Canada’s Top 20 Events and one of the Top 100 in North America by the American Bus Association (ABA).

Green with Trees
Virtually every one of over 350,000 trees in Regina has been hand-planted.

Regina Symphony Orchestra
The RSO is Canada’s oldest continuously operating symphony.
