Passport Information

Starting June 1, 2009, Canadian citizens will be required to present a valid passport, a NEXUS or Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card, or an enhanced driver's licence/enhanced identification card when seeking to enter the United States at its land or water crossings.

Baggage, Alcohol, Tobacco

Visitors can bring in necessary wearing apparel duty free, as well as personal effects they are using for their trip. Up to 1.14 litres (40 imperial oz) of alcoholic beverages, 1.5 litres of wine, or 24 x 355 ml (12 oz.) bottles or tins of beer or ale. Two hundred cigarette sticks, 50 cigars and 200 grams (7 ounces) of manufactured tobacco per person ages 19 and over (provincial requirements may differ) are admitted duty free. All goods
must be declared.

Pets/Animals
Hunting dogs as well as dogs, and cats may be brought into Canada free of duty, but some are subject to certification. See details at www.cbsa.gc.ca

GST Rebates
As of September 2006, GST Rebates are no longer available to visitors to Canada.
