Manager, Corporate and Destination Marketing
(14-month term)

The Position

Reporting to the President & CEO of Economic Development Regina Inc. (EDR) and working in close partnership with the Director of Tourism, Manager of Corporate Communications and Vice-President, the Corporate and Destination Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the creation, planning and implementation of programming that increases destination awareness and ultimately the economic impact of designated sectors for the Greater Regina Area (GRA), including industry sectors and Tourism Regina.

The 14-month term position will be responsible to direct and evaluate marketing strategies, information programs, activities, and initiatives on behalf of EDR, which includes Tourism Regina. Responsibilities will also include ensuring destination marketing activities and relationships are in alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate and Destination Marketing:

  • In conjunction with sector leads, will lead the destination marketing initiatives for the Greater Regina Area (GRA) including:
    • Research, create, coordinate, implement, and report on leisure marketing campaigns, including the funding sources to execute the campaign.
    • Support the development of programming that will target Tourism Regina’s primary tourism customer base.
    • Provide various marketing guidance and support to sector leads.
  • Under direction from the Corporate Communications Manager, assist with key projects including Regina Advantage.
  • Lead website development and maintenance for both Economic Development Regina and Tourism Regina, including all analytics, reporting, and processes.
  • Develop and lead the digital marketing strategy for Tourism Regina in partnership with the Director of Tourism.
  • Lead all social media campaigns and content creation for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Lead the Regina Ambassador Program.
  • Develop and lead Tourism specific content including newsletters, blogs and visitor services support.
  • Support event activation and conference servicing.
  • Working with the Director of Tourism, collaborate with the organizer of a defined number of events, tradeshows, festivals and conventions to develop and execute activation programming.
  • Working with the Corporate Communications Manager, ensure all collateral and communications pieces are on brand and created with an interactive functionality.
  • Provide mentorship and activities for the Destination Development Coordinator.
  • Source and manage external consultants.
  • Set and manage marketing budget based on EDR’s annual budget and priorities.
  • Provide monthly analytics reports to sector leads.

Organizational Leadership

  • Exhibit behaviors and actions that contribute to building a constructive culture within EDR, modelling curiosity, initiative, focus, discipline and persistence required to advance the Sector development and overall EDR objectives.
  • Fully commit to and sign off on the organization’s employee team charter.

Qualifications

  • BA in communications, journalism, marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in digital marketing and social media required.
  • Excellent communication and creative thinking skills with an ability to use data to inform all decisions.
  • Proficiency in using social media software (e.g. Hootsuite) to monitor social media conversations.
  • Experience with data-driven SEO analysis and optimization.
  • Experience building audiences either online or offline.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving organization.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new priorities and projects.
  • Bonus skills: HTML/CSS, Adobe Creative Suite, photography, videography

Destination Development Coordinator

The Position

Reporting to the Director of Tourism and working closely with the Destination Marketing Manager; Events, Conventions & Tradeshows team; and Sector Development team; the Destination Development Coordinator will be a key member of the tourism team and will support activation and lead tourism initiatives while developing and implementing world class client services and standards for Economic Development Regina Inc. (EDR).  

Key Responsibilities

Visitor Services:

  • Lead the execution of the integrated visitor services strategy and ensure alignment, support, and participation with key tourism and industry stakeholders.
  • Communicate with partners to maximize the reach and impact of visitor initiatives through: social media platforms, collateral distribution and tracking, visitor survey, industry newsletter, familiarization tour and itinerary building.
  • Identify and analyze visitor needs and provide them with recommendations and access to information and services that promote a positive first impression when visiting Regina.
  • Manage all visitor services activities including coordination of seasonal kiosk staff.

Destination Marketing and Sector Development:

  • Successful execution of online platforms Including but not limited to; Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, that will be used to connect the public to Tourism Regina campaigns.
  • Develop and execute destination marketing initiatives in conjunction with key destination stakeholders.
  • Implement an activation/servicing model that generates a measurable ROI for a defined number of events, tradeshows, festivals and conventions.
  • Using a project management framework, develop and coordinate the Activation projects.
  • Provide leadership to tourism partners and provide guidance in the development of programming that will target Tourism Regina’s primary tourism customer base.
  • Lead travel trade activities within EDR and with Tourism Saskatchewan.

Stakeholder Support:

  • Work with Attractions Regina to participate in Tourism Regina initiatives and support collaboration opportunities.
  • Support EDR stakeholders by maximizing the relationship with various tourism industry groups, through vehicles such as the Attractions Regina and Tourism Saskatchewan’s travel trade programs, ensuring EDR is seen by its tourism stakeholders as a trusted expert, resource and partner.
  • Maintain client relationship activities in support of the overall stakeholder plan.

Organizational Leadership:

Visitor Information Kiosk Counsellor (Summer Work Term)

The Position

This position will be proactive in engaging with visitors and locals at a new visitor information kiosk located in Regina’s beautiful Wascana Centre.  The goal is to raise awareness of things to see and do in the greater Regina area, while creating destination advocates.  Ideal candidates will possess a passion for the tourism industry, excellent communication skills, a committed and professional nature, and have strong knowledge of the tourism products in the greater Regina area in order to provide personalized recommendations.  This will be a part-time summer student position working approximately 25 hours per week, generally 12-5pm, 5 days per week, days to vary but typically Wednesday-Sunday, starting May 31 until August 31, 2018.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional level of customer service.
  • Proactively approach, engage and assist visitors and locals in a friendly and professional way, serving as an ambassador for Regina.
  • Enhance visitor and locals’ experience in Regina by informing them on Regina and area attractions, events, wayfinding and other related tourism products and services.
  • Stay current on local accommodation options, places to visit, events, festivals, restaurants, businesses, etc.
  • Accurately track all data on visitors and locals engaged.
  • Liaise with the Director of Tourism as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
