Akropolis Reed Quintet
Nearly a decade since their first performance, the Akropolis Reed Quintet continues to dazzle and engage audiences with virtuoso off-the-wall performances. Comprised of oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet, and bassoon, the group has earned critical acclaim and enthusiastic audiences around the world with their unique blend of virtuosity, humor, and passion.
Having first appeared on our stage in 2019, this incredible ensemble returns to the Cecilian Chamber Series for a concert inspired by the program’s centrepiece, Ravel’s “Le Tombeau de Couperin,” a poignant tribute to the French soldiers who perished during World War I. The program will also include works they have had specifically commissioned. The ensemble’s impeccable musicianship, precision, and sensitivity are sure to bring out the best throughout the concert.
