Krista Duchene is known as Canada’s Marathon Mom, a name given to her after winning the 2009 Mississauga Marathon on Mother’s Day, which was her first marathon back after the birth of her second child. She began running to stay fit and have fun, and gradually progressed from a recreational to an elite level runner. In 2016, she competed in the Rio Olympic Games after becoming the first Canadian in 20 years to qualify for the Olympics in the Women’s Marathon. She and her husband live in Brantford, ON with their three children.
