Supper in the Orchard featuring Chef Anita Korcsinszky

At Over the Hill Orchards and Winery, we’re delighted to offer our “Supper in the Orchard” series, in collaboration with local chefs, from May 3th through October 13th, 2024.

These culinary evenings feature a multi-course meal crafted predominantly from local and orchard-fresh ingredients. The evening kicks off on the outdoor patio, weather permitting, offering guests a chance to enjoy a drink with a view, followed by a cozy indoor setting by large picture windows for the supper.

The event includes a brief introduction to the orchard’s history by owners, Dean and Sylvia Kreutzer, and a presentation of the evening’s culinary talents. Guests are also treated to a 30-minute orchard tour between courses (weather permitting). The supper experience starts at 6:30 p.m. and concludes around 9 p.m.

 

Featured Chef: Chef Anita Korcsinszky, born in Hungary, and now continuing her culinary journey here in Saskatchewan.

Anita Korcsinszky, a Hungarian-born chef, developed her passion for cooking at the age of 12 under the guidance of her grandmother and mother, who instilled in her a love for old-fashioned cooking and baking. Recognizing the importance of preserving traditional culinary knowledge, Anita began collecting old cookbooks and recipes. After living in Europe for 31 years and experiencing diverse cuisines, she transitioned from the airline industry to the hospitality sector, opening her first restaurant in Budapest, Hungary, which focused on nutritious and healthy ingredients.

Fifteen years ago, Anita, along with her husband and two children, moved to Ontario, Canada, where she continued her culinary journey. She found a strong market and interest in healthy and natural cooking in her new home. Throughout her career, Anita has held positions such as head cook and banquet facility manager at the Regina Hungarian Cultural and Social Club for nine years, as well as a nutritional coordinator at Prairie Valley School Division for two years. Three years ago, she fulfilled her dream of opening her own restaurant in Lumsden, Ontario, where she continues to share her passion for nutritious and wholesome cuisine.
