We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is Treaty 4 territory and the traditional territory of the Anihšinābēk, Nêhiyawak, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota peoples, and the original home of the Métis/Michif Nation. We recognize that both Indigenous and Métis people are the spiritual and cultural keepers of their traditional lands and still to this day, continue to practice their values, languages, beliefs and knowledge.
The Aunty Show
Join us for The Aunty Show, a unique evening curated and hosted by Zoey Roy featuring the amazing, multidisciplinary talents of Kris Alvarez, Annie Brass, Tai Reign and Raven Sage.
The Aunty Show showcases local artists who are promoting harmony in their creative practice. Auntie, in Cree, translates to “little mother”, a woman who does not compete with the mom but rather supports the child while they are growing into their own person and the tension with mom is high. Universally, Aunties in our communities are important for providing a safe place for young people to have a soft landing and to be reflective and honest, so they can grow from the tensions they experience.
“This show focuses on interdisciplinary artists at different places in their career with unique offerings, different walks of life and different stories to share, giving more people entry points to be understood,” says Zoey Roy, “Aunties sometimes show up in our lives as teachers, neighbours, store clerks…caretakers. These are the people who let us be soft.”
There will be a mini vendors market on site as well as a fashion show!
Get excited for our fun mocktail drink menu!
Please note that this is a dry (alcohol-free) event.
