A weekend in Regina may not seem like a lot of time, but you may be surprised at how much you can squeeze into 48 hours! Here are some fun ideas for where to eat, play and stay in Regina with your family.
Where to Stay:
Travelodge South – Why choose this hotel for your weekend of fun? I have one word for you. Soaked! Soaked Waterpark features two waterslides, a swimming pool, spray pad, toddler area, hot tub and a digital water curtain. The waterslides don’t drop into the pool so they’re good for the younger kids too that may be a bit hesitant about waterslides and swimming.
Where to Play:
Tobogganing at Southland Hill – This hill is just outside of Chapters on South Albert Street (close by the hotel mentioned above). It’s not a steep hill but it is wide and it’s great for kids of all ages. With a Starbucks inside the Chapters, you can warm up with a big mug of hot cocoa once you’re done playing outside.
4 Cats Art Studio – This studio is also in south Regina and they have lots of different options for making arts and crafts with your kids. You could work on paintings, clay art projects and more!
Globe Theatre – Both kids and adults will love this live theatre! It’s the perfect size for having a great view no matter where your seats are but you will want to book your tickets in advance.
Board Game Bistro – Enjoy a night of friendly family competition playing a wide variety of board games while enjoying a few snacks. They have a huge selection of games to choose from.
Where to Eat:
Fresh & Sweet on Victoria Avenue – With menu items like a grilled cinnamon bun, lemon meringue waffles, and a smoked salmon bowl, there’s something for all tastes here! Be warned though, the caramel apples and delicious cupcakes in the bakery display are very tempting! It’s always nice to indulge on vacation though. Remember, vacation (or even staycation) calories don’t count.
The Mercury in Cathedral – This cute retro-style diner is a great stop for lunch! With classics like burgers, chicken fingers, and fries, the kids are sure to love it. Insider Tip: They have the BEST onion rings in town! I’ve also heard this is the only place in the city where you can order flapper pie so save room for dessert.
Dessart Sweets – While in Cathedral, pop by this cute little specialty candy shop. They have lots of classics you’ll remember eating when you were a kid plus lots of fun new candies and chocolates that you won’t find anywhere else in the city. Load up for a movie night later in the hotel because all that time in the waterpark is sure to leave you hungry.
Italian Star Deli – The best sandwiches in the city. No lie. Not only are the deli sandwiches delicious but the service here cannot be beat! Everyone is also so friendly and they truly treat their customers like family. This isn’t a sit-down restaurant though so you’ll have to take your sandwiches to go.
