Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. What’s not to love about breakfast, right? Breakfast helps to start your day off with energy plus in what other meal of the day is it perfectly acceptable to have whipped cream and syrup as your main dish? Whether you’re looking for a lazy weekend morning brunch or a fancy Sunday brunch to celebrate a special occasion, Regina has plenty of delicious options to choose from.

Casino Regina: This is a great location for a fancier buffet-style brunch when you’re celebrating a special occasion. Just looking to indulge in a lazy day buffet while wearing your comfiest yoga pants? Yep, this location is great for that too. Their Sunday brunch is held in the show lounge so there is plenty of seating available. You can choose from some savoury breakfast favourites like eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, or go for the sweet breakfast treats like big, fluffy waffles piled high with whipped cream and berries or skip breakfast all together and go for lunch foods. There are so many delicious options here, all fresh and regularly rotated so you get a delicious dining experience. Have I mentioned the dessert buffet? Save room to indulge in a tall, moist chocolate layer cake or sample a variety of freshly baked pies and bars.

Hotel Saskatchewan: This is another great location for a fancy Sunday brunch buffet. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to go in a few years but from what I can remember there’s a large variety of savoury and sweet foods for both breakfast and lunch. It’s all served in one of the hotel’s beautifully decorated rooms.

Fresh & Sweet: When I go out for brunch, I tend to go for the sweet breakfast items like waffles, French toast, pancakes, etc. When searching for Regina’s most unique selection of breakfast sweets, you will not be disappointed with Fresh & Sweet. Their selection includes items like White Chocolate Banana Bread French Toast, Grilled Cinnamon Bun, Red Velvet Pancakes and more. Can’t eat sweets first thing in the morning? No problem – they have you covered on the savoury side as well with items such as the Mexican Breakfast Squarito (the perfect level of breakfast spiciness), Smoked Salmon Benny, Buffalo Benny Wrap, and more. I went for the Caramel Apple Pie Waffle, of course. It’s a big fluffy, waffle topped with crisp, fresh sliced apples, drizzled in a generous amount of sweet caramel sauce and topped high with a light whipped cream. Oh my gosh – so good!

Breakfast Bistro: This is one of Regina’s most popular restaurants for a weekend brunch. They have a great selection of both savoury and sweet breakfast or lunch items to choose from so there’s something for all tastes. My recommendation – choose your own fillings for an omelette with chunky, lightly seasoned hashbrowns and a spicy Italian sausage. This sausage has a spicy kick that is sure to wake up your taste buds.

The Capitol: For a unique brunch menu, check out The Capitol. On their menu you’ll find items such as Chicken & Waffle Sliders with a side of beer syrup, Bison Breakfast Burger, Wild Berry Curd & Feta Waffles, and more. I went for a non-sweet option here (shocking for me, I know) and ordered the avocado on toast with a side of hashbrowns. I wasn’t sure what kind of flavour to expect with avocado on toast but I was pleasantly surprised with this perfectly seasoned vegetarian dish! It was served on a freshly baked baguette – soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside. Tip – if ordering plain toast here, ask for a side of the wild berry compote to spread on top.

Marokena Crepe Café: Almost hidden in northwest Regina, you’ll find a small crepe café that many locals rave about. Marokena has a large selection of both sweet and savoury crepes to choose from – all made fresh to order right before your eyes. I chose the Lemon Crepe topped with homemade lemon curd, fresh strawberries and icing sugar – the perfect combination of tart and sweet. The crepes are so light and they just melt in your mouth.
