How to winter like a local! 

1. Eat some brunch: basically all Canadians love to brunch, actually everyone loves to brunch! Check out Victoria's Tavern or Skye Cafe & Bistro

2. Bundle up for a walk: Wascana Park is beautiful to explore by foot during any season (and by snowshoe, fat bike, or cross country ski in the winter!)

3. Sip on a warm drink: Regina is full of cute cafes to grab a latte! Some of our fav's include: TangerineCafe Drip33 1/3 and the French Press

4. Shop until you drop: between the Shoppes on Hamilton and the Cornwall Centre, downtown Regina has great shopping

5. Stroll through an art gallery: several galleries in the city all feature different art genres , try Slate Gallery, Assiniboia Gallery or the Dunlop Art Gallery 

6. Listen to some live tunes: there's lots of live music venues in the city hosting different musical genres such as The Exchange and Revival Music Room

7. Enjoy a live production: Conexus Arts Centre hosts many things from theatre, music and dance while Globe Theatre offers outstanding musical theatre 

8. Relax with a cocktail: after a long day exploring the city kick your feet up and enjoy a signature cocktail at Avenue Restaurant or The Capitol 

9. Take in the holiday spirit: The Conexus Arts Centre will be transformed into a Christmas wonderland celebrating the Magic of Christmas beginning November 20th, 2019.

Regina has several attractions that the whole family can explore on a chilly winter day! 

RCMP Heritage Centre - Learn the story of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police through an interactive museum and the Sargent Major's Parade

Royal Saskatchewan Museum - Journey through millions of years of Saskatchewan’s geological and natural history (*closed for renovations: Jan. 7-18)

Saskatchewan Science Centre - Explore hands-on exhibits, activities and science workshops before completing the experience with a 3D IMAX film 

Government House - Travel back to Regina's Victorian past by exploring the museum, art gallery and educational centre 

Legislative Building - Enjoy a guided tour of one of the largest legislative buildings in Canada 

Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame - Honour outstanding Saskatchewan athletes throughout their various exhibits 

Wascana Centre - Walk, ski or skate in this beautifully landscaped park surrounding a lake located in the heart of Regina

MacKenzie Art Gallery - Experience Saskatchewan’s oldest and most compelling public art gallery offering original exhibitions 

Casino Regina - Play a wide range of slots, table games or poker before finishing the evening with dining and a live performance

Regina Floral Conservatory - Experience the tranquility of lush greenery and the therapeutic scent of moist air at this premiere indoor green space

Get Outside 


Regina City Square Outdoor Rink is located in the heart of downtown Regina. Complete with a warming hut, skate shack with free rentals. Opened as of January 3rd. 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. & 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Monday - Friday, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Weekends. 12th Avenue and Scarth Street. 

Wascana Lake Outdoor Rink is positioned on the edge of the picturesque Wascana Lake, feel like one with nature without leaving the city! Opened as of January 4th. 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. daily. 3000 Wascana Drive. 

Cross-Country Skiing 

Regina boasts 13km of groomed skate and classic ski trails for people of all ages ad skill levels. Located at: Douglas Park, the Foothills, Saskatchewan Science Centre and Kinsmen Park. Find trail conditions here.


The best part about this activity is that it can be done basically anywhere with a hill! Check out your neighbourhood parks or school playgrounds. If you're stuck for ideas or want to find the biggest hill around town, check out this website

Need Rentals? 

Fresh Air Experience located at 532 Victoria Avenue rents cross-country skis and snowshoes!
