Bussin’ Breweries

Mar 7, 2023/Eat & Drink

Thanks to our friends at Rebellion Brewing, here is a very simple guide to hitting up several craft breweries in Regina. Take the opportunity to walk to each brewery – or if time isn’t on your side be sure to have a designated driver lined up ahead of time. Support these local breweries and try the Regina Hop Circuit!

Bussin’ Breweries

  • 1. Pile O’ Bones Brewing Company
Locals will immediately recognize the name as Regina’s unofficial nickname, which comes from the original Cree name for our city, oskana ka-asastēki, (often shortened to Wascana or Oskana). So the name, Pile O’ Bones Brewing Company was chosen to remind people of the fact that Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota, Lakota, Dakota and Métis people called the plains of Saskatchewan home and hunted Buffalo for thousands of years before Dewdney showed up. Head out to the sunshine patio – and if you’re snackish, grab some delicious food from Oxpecker!

  • 2. Bushwakker Brewing
Bushwakker has been a staple of craft beer in Regina for decades. Located on Dewdney Avenue, this a favourite hangout after Rider games! However, we still love to stop by even without the games. They’re famous for their mead which launches every December 1 and promptly sells out. (People literally line up down the street 24 hours in advance to purchase crates of mead.) They also host the First Firkin Friday where a small keg of special ale is piped through the pub and tapped.

  • 3. District Brewing Company
With it’s internationally recognized and award-winning Brewmaster, District Brewing is a must-try. Stop by for a pint or grab one to take home! The staff is passionate about their beer – and helping you find the perfect brew. While many craft breweries focus on ales, District specializes in lager, going so far as to make four different styles: German Pilsner Lager, Festbier Marzen Lager, Bavarian Dark Lager and West Coast Wheat Lager.

  • 4. Rebellion Brewing
These rebels know the value of local ingredients and quality found here in Saskatchewan, and you can taste it in their beer. Rebellion is pushing creativity in the craft beer world as they’re now known for their innovative Lentil Crème Ale – using Saskatchewan-grown lentils, of course.

  • 5. Malty National
While their seating area is currently closed for renovations, Malty National is still brewing more than ever. What really makes the brewery stand out is that they always have something fresh and exciting to offer. They strive to offer a new beer each week to their loyal customers.

In the spirit of reconciliation

We would like to acknowledge that the land on which we gather is Treaty 4 territory and the traditional territory of the Anihšinābēk, Nêhiyawak, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota peoples, and the original home of the Métis/Michif Nation. We recognize that both Indigenous and Métis people are the spiritual and cultural keepers of their traditional lands and still to this day, continue to practice their values, languages, beliefs and knowledge.
